Warlords of Draenor is the fifth World of Warcraft expansion. Announced at Blizzcon 2013, the expansion includes at least ninety new quests and release on December 20th, 2014.
As with any expansion, Warlords of Draenor comes with a slew of new features, as well as updating old content. These range from a new level cap to updated character models and brand new areas to explore, as well as an entire new gameplay mechanic that lets players build their own stronghold and command a force of NPCs to do their bidding.
advertisementAfter the events of the Mists of Pandaria expansion, Garrosh Hellscream escapes captivity and, with the aid of a magical accomplice, manages to travel across time. By returning to a point before Draenor was destroyed and the Outland formed, Garrosh prevents the Horde as we know it from forming, and instead uses his knowledge of the future and it's technology to bring the armies of Draenor together and form the Iron Horde. Thanks to their advancements in technology, Garrosh and his Iron Horde manage to create a Dark Portal - resulting in a time-spanning attack on Azeroth of present-day.
In their quest to save Azeroth and return history to it's rightful course, players will travel to the new land of Old Draenor and fight alongside (and against) such legendary Warcraft characters as Blackhand, Bladefist, Killrogg Deadeye, Ner'zhul and Grommash Hellscream.
Across Draenor's savage jungles and battle-scarred plains, Azeroth's heroes will engage in a mythic conflict involving mystical draenei champions and mighty orc clans, and cross axes with the likes of Grommash Hellscream, Blackhand, and Ner'zhul at the height of their primal power. Players will need to scour this unwelcoming land in search of allies to help build a desperate defense against the Iron Horde’s formidable engine of conquest -- or else watch their own world’s bloody, war-torn history repeat itself.
Warlords of Draenor will feature a large new realm for players to explore, with seven new zones for each faction to do battle in.
Shadowmoon Valley, the starting area for Alliance players, is sanctuary to the Draenei and houses several ancient temples and a vast network of underground tunnels.
The Horde's starting locations, Frostfire Ridge a bizzare realm consisting of brutal snowstorms and volcanic lavaflows - the perfect trial for the survivalist races of the Iron Horde.
